LILO Goes Plastic-Free.

The team at LILO have been working on this for a while now, so we're pretty excited to finally announce our new plastic-free packaging. It's been a personal mission for us too. We've spent months testing, tweaking, and perfecting a packaging solution that doesn't compromise on quality while being genuinely better.

Our new tubs are:

  • ✅ Home compostable

  • ✅ Plastic-free (no polymers or PFAS)

  • ✅ Certified by ISEGA, FDA (and others)

  • ✅ Meeting the highest standards in sustainability & quality

Traditional frozen dessert packaging relies heavily on plastic and mixed materials that end up in landfill because they're nearly impossible to recycle properly. We knew we could do better.

Our new tubs break down naturally whether they're in your home compost, council collection, or even landfill. No microplastics, no forever chemicals, just back to earth.

The foil lids are made from aluminium. They won't break down, but here's the good news: they're fully recyclable alongside your drink cans. Just rinse and toss them in your recycling bin.

We also wanted certification that meant something. That's why our packaging meets international standards for food safety and compostability. This isn't greenwashing. It's the real deal.

What this means for you

When you finish your LILO, you've got options:

  1. Toss it in your home compost bin where it'll break down naturally

  2. Add it to your council food waste collection (where available)

  3. Know that even if it does end up in landfill, it won't be there for centuries
